Sales Tax Accountant

 Salary Range: $74,698.00 - $112,047.00 

Position Summary:

This Tax Accountant position is primarily responsible for the timely compliance of indirect tax returns under general supervision. The position also assists the Tax Manager with special assignments and projects within the tax team in the Finance Department.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Review sales & use tax returns prepared by third party tax software
• Prepare and file monthly Canadian GST/HST tax returns
• Review and validate resale/exemption certificates
• Assist with information gathering in support of internal and external tax audits
• Respond to and prepare correspondences with federal and state tax authorities
• Liaise with third party tax accountants and coordinate tax filings
• Prepare annual property tax statements, business licenses, and statements of information
• Assist with other tax projects as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Education:

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance 
• 2+ years’ experience in sales & use tax
• Proficiency in Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both internally and externally
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• A combination of public accounting and private industry experiences
• Experience working with Avalara AvaTax
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365
