Position Summary:

The Manager, Engineering Change Control leads the execution, governance, and continuous improvement of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process across the organization. This role ensures engineering changes are defined, reviewed, and implemented accurately and efficiently, minimizing disruption to manufacturing, inventory, and customer commitments.

As the process owner for engineering change control, this role partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and PDM to drive consistency, data integrity, and operational excellence. The Manager is responsible for both team leadership and end-to-end process performance, enabling scalable and high-quality change execution across the enterprise.

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite work three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Engineering Change Control function, owning the execution, quality, and continuous improvement of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process across the organization.
  • Chair and drive cross-functional Change Review Board (CRB) meetings to evaluate, prioritize, and advance engineering changes.
  • Ensure all engineering changes are accurately defined, reviewed, and implemented with minimal disruption to manufacturing, inventory, and customer commitments.
  • Own end-to-end ECO process performance including cycle time, first-pass quality, and implementation accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure alignment on change priorities, timing, and business impact.
  • Ensure BOMs, configurations, and related product data are correctly updated and released through established change control processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of issues related to change execution, data errors, and downstream impacts.
  • Support product lifecycle activities including revisions, obsolescence, and phase-out planning.

 

Operational & Strategic Duties

  • Establish and manage KPIs for ECO throughput, accuracy, and cycle time; drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, visibility, and scalability of the change management process.
  • Partner with Engineering Services and PDM to ensure change workflows and system capabilities support business needs.
  • Drive standardization of change control practices across product lines and brands.
  • Support automation initiatives that improve change visibility and reduce manual effort.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Change Coordination team, establishing clear roles, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training on change control processes and tools.
  • Manage workload prioritization to ensure timely execution of critical changes.
  • Build team capability to support increasing product complexity and business growth.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary process owner and point of contact for engineering change control across the organization.
  • Communicate change status, risks, and priorities to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Partner with Customer Service and Quality to investigate and resolve warranty and field issues through structured change processes.

Qualifications, Skills and Education:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering change control, product data management, or a related operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of PLM/PDM and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional processes, prioritizing competing demands, and driving accountability for timely, accurate execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior people leadership experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Dynamics 365.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM or similar workflow/document control systems.
  • Background supporting complex product lifecycles or cross-functional change review boards.
  • Experience improving BOM governance, product data integrity, or ECO workflows.
