Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician assists engineers with production of prototype chairs, helps to process specials, and does other tasks as needed. They maintain the ENG shop, build fixtures and assembly equipment, and review fabrics submitted for testing and maintain database (COM process).

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Build chairs and assemblies for testing and checking form fit and function.
  • Assist Quality Control with rework process. Build fixtures and set up processes. 
  • Back up to: Test all submitted fabric for compatibility with EXEMPLIS glue and upholstery methods.  Approve or reject fabrics and document, approval or reason(s) for rejection along with any restrictions that are required.  Maintain database of tested fabrics.
  • Use basic measuring equipment as well as industry specific tools to measure and document chair dimensions.

  • Mechanical & basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Computer competency (Microsoft Office, database)
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training in an office furniture manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CAD Training or experience (Beneficial - not required)
  • PLC Troubleshooting and Programming Skills (Beneficial - not required)


Working conditions:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
